MKO ABIOLA'S SUPREME SACRIFICE FOR POSTERITY

MKO ABIOLA
I remember with nostalgia the course and the events that cumulated in the conspiracy and murder of Bashorun M.K.O Abiola.
The memories flow so fresh about the June 12 struggle; through the streets and the cities of Nigeria in the dark moment of Nigeria democratic experiment of actualizing a mandate that was freely and fairly entrusted to Kashiwawo Abiola, beyond the frontiers of tribal and religious sentiments.

Today, the tears are dry but those that were maimed still carry the scars and wounds of the struggles, while those that were fatally unfortunate to lose their lives in the struggle are
Kokori, Hon Sob Agunbiade and others
far asleep in their permanent abode - below the ground level.
Chief Abiola had a choice to rethink, recline and renounce the mandate, so as to regain his freedom and continue to live his life of affluence and philantropism, but he chose to act like a true Aree-Ona-Kakanfo and a real man, that must not abandon a genuine cause half way. Olawale paid the supreme sacrifice for posterity……….. he died for Nigeria.
Do the beneficiaries of the democratic dividend of Moshood Kasimawo. Abiola’s supreme sacrifice live to justify the hard choice made by Abiola?
103.pngWhile thanking those that keep the memories fresh year - in - year out, I enjoin all that occupy positions of democratic power, to remember always,s that the current democratic reign has not been achieved on a platform of gold.
Therefore, in all we do, let us be conscious of the pains and blood of the martyrs of the foundation of this political dispensation.
Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade
Majority Leader
Lagos State House of Assembly
