AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY HONORABLE S.O.B AGUNBIADE AT THE PRESS BRIEFING ON THE
POSTPONED GENERAL ELECTIONS, PUBLIC DISCOURSE AND CELEBRATION OF LOVE FOR
BUHARI, TODAY FEBRUARY 14TH 2015.
Today, Saturday 14th of
February 2015, is the day, originally fixed by the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) for Nigerians to elect a new President and Members of the
National Assembly that will superintend the affairs of the country, from 2015-2019.Alas! The same Electoral Commission unremorsefully dashed
the enthusiasm and expectations of Nigerians, by announcing the postponement of
the Elections as if it was doing Nigerians any favour.
We in the Onward Movement of
Nigeria/SOB Again Project Team, do hereby, like every reasonable and
progressive citizen of this country, condemn theill - motivated postponement
that is on all grounds a smokescreen for more cynical plots to avert a free and
fair election that will reflect the sovereign will of the people. That is if
any election is allowed to be held, at the end of the new scheduled dates.
We refuse to be fooled into believing that the
insurgency in the North East, which did not start few months to the election
dates, nor the issues of Permanent
Voters Cards, which the PDP- led Federal Government has made no pronouncement concerning
the way and manner it was been distributed all this while;despite the hues and
cries by the All Progressives Congress,
will suddenly become an issue of grievous concern that necessitated the -
eleventh hour - postponement of election dates that were fixed years back.
We wish the Federal
Government a robust luck in its renewed drive to root insurgency out of the
North East of Nigeria and a practical and workable strategy of distributing all
outstanding Permanent Voters Card. But should the“six weeks miracle ” turn out to be in adequate to guarantee the tranquility envisaged, or in the very
likely event that the Niger Delta militia decides to add its brand of insult on the already septic national injury,we shall
wish to remind INEC that despite the situation in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, citizens of those countries still
went into elections to elect New Leaders. Therefore, Let no one somewhere and
in whatever capacity suffer any delusion that as long as they precipitate or
promote crisis in any part of Nigeria, election will not hold.
No doubt the elections have
been postponed and it remains postponed, but to us the 14th of February 2015,
remains another date in the history of Nigeria when a tiny clique of civilians
colluded with the military to tamper with the democratic process. February 14th
will therefore remain a date when the hope of Nigerians suffered a setback and
the Nation called Nigeria is again pushed into the murky waters of ridicule in
the comity of democratic Nations.
However, we shall seek
solace in the conventional global tag for February 14 as a day synonymous with showing
love and exchanging gift. Therefore, though as a people, our psychic is harassed
by the postponed elections, yet our love for the man we are anxiously waiting to vote for as the President of
Nigeria remains intact as we remain undaunted. For these reasons, we have
decided to commemorate today as a special day to publicly demonstrate our love
for a man of high integrity and rare passion:
General Muhammad Buhari. Today we shall publicly pronounce him as our
Val and celebrate Buhari as a man that deserve our love and vote, today we resolve
to give practical meaning to the slogan:FeBUHARI.
With lots of Love on
valentine day
GOD BLESS NIGERIA! ! !
