HON. SOB Agunbiade today thank the almighty God for the actualization of this edition (the 4th) of the interest free loan to the Market Men and Women in Ikorodu Constituency1.  My constituency comprise of Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North and West LCDA.

 

The programme that has been designed primarily to assist individuals involved in the business of buying and selling and intended  to provide financial assistant to boost their business without them paying any interest on the money so provided.

He approached a Bank, took a loan,  (constructively) on behalf of the Market Men & Women and Youth in his constituency, distribute the money to them, allow them use the money for a period of three months, start paying back after one full month for the rest 2 months without any interest on the amount while he pay all the interests on the lump sum to the Bank.

 

He arrived at this plan and commenced the programme after his intaractive meeting with a cross section of his constituents on how to assist market Men and Women and Youth be self reliant through entrepreneurship.

The programme started with the Market Men and Women, Youths, as well as members of some CDA nominated through thier CDC. But today, the interst free loan is given largely to the Market men and Women and sparingly to some Youth. This is because the Market Men and Women have not defaulted in paying back in all the three previous editions. The other beneficiaries of today programme that are not Market Men & Women are those who have paid back promptly in the previous editions.

 

 Hon Agunbiade today commend the exemplary leadership of the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division Alhaja Allison, under whose leadership he commence this programme for the  Market  Men and Women and which leadership has encouraged the  repeated editions  of the programme. She has coordinated the Market Men and Women, very well to pay back and promptly too.

 

Also appreciated another woman of substance worthy of commendation for the success of the Previous edition of this program is the Iyaloja of Ikorodu West LCDA Alhaja Paramole the courageous & fearless woman.  He also commend the Iyaloja of Ikorodu North LCDA.

 

He informed, some people have quarrired why he choose to make the programme a loan, instead of outright gift. He responded that free money elicit free spending but what he intend is not to give free money but to assist his constituents grow thier business through regulated fund,  from which they can make sustanable profit that they can spend freely. This is an effort toward building  a sustainable entrepreneurship. He is doing this to keep our market men and women, also the Youth in business,  because when they know they have to refund the money, they will not divert it freely to frivolous domestic needs.

He expressed his appreciations to WEMA Bank plc which is his new source of encouragement with a lot of Modification that has been brought into the programme as it was highlighted by the Head of Public sector of the Bank. He also appreciate Skye Bank of Nigeria which supported for the first three Editions of the programme

 

Not but least, he appreciated his Operational Mechanism through which he has been executing his programme as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. That is Onward movement of Nigeria.                                     

However, he appreciated the Leaders and members of His benefactor; the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria A.P.C. for giving him the mandate to be elected to serve.               

Lastly, he presented to WEMA BANK plc the 110 beneficiaries of the 4th Edition of the interest free Loan programme after a royal Blessing from HRM, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu. They are entitled  to the sum of N50,000 each, for 3 months.
