On the 12th day of
November, 2015 we witnessed the commissioning of the reconstructed Ikorodu-Mile
12 Road to a standard, beautiful and befitting one that make enjoy an, efficient and satisfactory transport system.
Yesterday as we mark the 1st
of December 2015 Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade (Majority Leader of the LSHA, representing
Ikorodu Constituency I)
joined other commuters to enjoy the new befitting LAMATA-BRT buses form Ikorodu
Round-about to the office (Lagos State House of Assembly). As a means of
relating with his constituents and having a feel of what the constituents feel.

While at terminal he was
embraced by the queue of passengers intending to join the BRT buses, which he
reciprocated and Discussed on the importance of ensuring the buses are meeting up
to the expectation of the commuters. He told them of his
intention to ensure the masses are being heard of their various encounters with
the buses and its workers.
As he was enjoying his ride to the office, other passengers on board with him saw it as an avenue to engage him
with their challenges on the services of the BRT buses which they discussed;
- Policing of the Ikorodu-Mile 12 BRT Corridor towards combating motorcyclist plying the corridor and culprits must be arrested.
- Provision of adequate Security personnel at every BRT bus terminal.
- Delay in take-off timing.
- Release of additional buses and staffs.
- Malfunctioning of tap-out machines which sometimes over-charge.
- Inability to use the ticket bought, when not used for the immediate trip it was purchase for.
- Measures should be put in place to notify passengers of their card balances as they utilize their cards.
- Continuous check and balances method should be put in place and adequate maintenance plan should be programmed for sustainability.
- There should be daily check and balances of buses before leaving their respective parks.

there complains and promised it shall be communicated to appropriate quarters for
improvement in the services of the BRT busses.
yesterday at plenary under
the 6th agenda of the order paper of the house, which is Matters of Urgent Public Importance,
Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade (Majority Leader of the LSHA) used the opportunity to call
the attention of the house to their complains and moved motion on;
Need to Restore Sanity on
Ikorodu-Mile 12 BRT Corridor.
Motion
made and question proposed: “That in view
of the insanity caused by the Commercial Motorcycle riders (Okada riders) on
Ikorodu-Mile 12 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor.
This House do resolves to:
Call on His
Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Governor of Lagos State to
direct appropriate MDAs to provide effective sanity check on the increasing
operation of Okada riders, private vehicles and yellow Buses on the
Ikorodu-Mile 12 BRT corridor;
Direct total
enforcement of the Lagos State Road Traffic Law, 2012 on the Ikorodu-Mile 12
BRT corridor; and
Direct the
Committee on Transportation to liaise with the Commissioner for Transportation
and the General Manager, Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority
(LAMATA) with a view to finding urgent solution to the ticketing problems
presently affecting the smooth operation of the BRT.”
