The man called S.O.B Agunbiade is actually by name Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle Agunbiade , the son of Pa Y. A Agunbiade and Late Madam Raliatullah Agunbiade of blessed memory, May her Soul Rest in Perfect Peace.
He is a bonafide indigene of Ikorodu and hails from the two Ruling Houses in Ikorodu: the Rademo and Lasunwon Royal families.
He started his educational career at Jamat-ul-Isslamiyya primary school . He later attended Government Teachers Training College before proceeding to the then Lagos State College of Education (now Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Oto-Ijanjkin) where he studied Biology / Chemistry. He was member of the Students Parliamentary Council (SPC) representing Biology / Chemistry Constituency before he got elected as the Welfare Director of the Students Union Government. It was the constructive students struggle of his tenure that led to the construction of the first Lecture theater (the red brick block) in the school, during the tenure of Mike Akhigbe as the Military Administrator of Lagos State.
He was a Biology / Chemistry teacher at Ikorodu High School before he left teaching job to further his educational career as a Law Student at the Lagos State University where again for four years he was elected as the representative of the Law faculty at the Students Parliamentary Council (SPC). He was in his final year, elected as the President of the Students Union Government. He left indelible marks as many would attest.
He made another landmark as a student of the Nigeria Law School, when he was elected as the President of the Association of Lagos State indigenes, on which pedestal he led the students to win a forty thousand (40,000) Naira bursary award, for each of the state indigenes in the law school. A gesture that successive Lagos state indigenes in the Law School enjoy till date.
He is a community person per-excellence. He was the Pioneer Secretary of the Youth Activities Committee of the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) of which he bagged a Role Model award after some years.
Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle Agunbiade is a Crusader and an activist: He is one of the first Coordinators of the Campaign for Democracy (CD), Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Gani Fawehinmi Solidarity Asssociation (GFSA) in Ikorodu.
He is the Convener and General Overseer (GO) of the Onward Movement of Nigeria. A Non Governmental Organization that has strongly stood by him in his drive for service to humanity.
He practiced law as a Counsel with Bonajo Badejo & Co. for many years before joining Politics in 2003. After a botched attempt to the House of Assembly in year 2003 under Alliance for Democracy, He was successful in 2007 under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). His practical representation, selfless activities and score card, gave him the mandate of Ikorodu Constituency 1 people for the Second term ( a very rare privilege in Ikorodu Constituency. Many publications that have rated members of the House of Assembly have have rated S.O.B Agunbiade so high as none has rated him below 75% rating.
Hon Sanai Oyeniran Agunbiade has moved Twenty Five (25) motions on the floor of the house and contributes well to debates bothering on of good governance and societal development. He has also engaged in many Community development projects and Human Capital programmes. He is a friend of the Press and loved by many.
Some of the motions moved includes but not limited to;
1. Motion for the adoption of the Lagos state crest as a seal of the state as against the coat of arm. 2. Motion to call on the National Assembly to commence the process of constitutional amendment that will ensure true federalism in Nigeria, but in the interim, review the sharing formula of the Federation Account in a manner that will give more allocation to the State and Local Governments, contrary to the present instance where the federal Government takes almost 52% of the chunk
3. Motion to call on the Commissioner Ministry of Transportation to direct men and officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to prevent commercial motorbike operators from parking and carry passengers on the kerbs and on the express road of Ketu
4. Also to call on the Commissioner for the Environment to direct men and official of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) to enforce strict compliance with the use of the pedestrian bridge at Ketu.
5. Motion to call on the His Excellency, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, the Governor of Lagos State to direct the appropriate Ministry or Departments and Agencies to commence wide publicity and sensitization programme for members of the public on the penalty regime once the Bill ( Proposed Road Traffic Law) is assented to before full enforcement of the law commences.
6. Several motions on the menace of Ajagungbale and land grabbers in the state and in particular in Ikorodu.
7. Motion calling for the revival of the power sector in the country. Etc.
Aside from his constitutional role, Hon. S.O.B has sunk boreholes in almost all the 17 wards of the constituency; facilitated provision of transformer to many of the communities within the constituency; trained several Hundred of youth in ICT at his own expence; rewarded good academic excellence through “Best Brain Contest”;gave soft loan to market men and women in his Constituency, Ikorodu Constituency 1.and more.
As you could see, our beloved S.O.B Agunbiade has been living a modest live of service, from a tender age of a pupil, contributing to humanity and helping to shape the society. His antecedent is a testimony of commitment and progressive calling.
S.O.B is loved in his constituency more because he lives in his ward and his Constituency from where he goes to work and to where he returns every day, thereby becoming one of the most accessible elected representative of his people ever in the anals of the constituency.
He is married to Thairat Adeola Agunbiade a civil servant with the Lagos State Government and blessed with Okikiade, Oyekanmi and Olawande Agunbiade.
